How does the Mis-en-Scene in your still help to construct the identity of the character?

How does the Mis-en-Scene in your still help to construct the identity of the character?https://nypdecider.files.wordpress.com/2015/09/narcos-episode-9-recap.png

This image is from a TV drama called Narcos. It shows a character who looks tired, judging by scruffy hair and facial expression. He is clearly the main focus as it is a close up camera shot on his face and the camera hasn’t focused on any of the people we can behind.

Also in the image we can see the metal gate restricting our view. It may represent the characters restrictions, his expression looks as if he wants to get out but he could possibly be trapped. It shows the characters limitations and his struggle to get to where he wants to get to. With the metal gate and the out of focus bodies behind the character facing him or approaching may indicate it is a dangerous situation and location.

The lighting in this image is fairly bright, this could be a connotation that things in the image aren’t all as bad as they originally seem. The grass is a bright green and sky looks clear, weather often portrays mood and emotions. This would indicate good moods, a fresh start and open, happy emotions.
